About PIATA
The Philippine IATA Agents Travel Association (PIATA) is comprised of professional members of travel agencies accredited by the International Air Travel Association (IATA). PIATA was founded in February 21, 1985 by a group of pioneering IATA travel agents whose vision was to form an IATA travel agents association that would be responsive to the needs of its members and responsible to the public that it serves.
PIATA’s membership comprises over 100 of the finest travel agencies, with a majority from Metro Manila and Cebu.
PIATA exists to promote cordial relations and encourage professionalism amongst IATA-appointed travel agents in the Philippines. The Association likewise encourages IATA travel agents to actively participate in the formulation, interpretation and dissemination of IATA rules and procedures, while promoting compliance of the same. PIATA further envisions professionalizing the Philippine travel industry, thereby earning a respectable reputation globally for both inbound and outbound tourism.
THE PIATA BRAND
The PIATA logo stands for a particular level of service. PIATA agents represent the best of the industry - Forthrightness, Dependability, and Accountability. Securing the services of an IATA-accredited, PIATA member agent means that you are dealing with an agency that has been empowered by the airlines to represent their fares, their ticketing, their products. It is a relationship borne of trust.
PIATA agents uphold the finest standards of accountability to the Bank Settlement Plan of IATA, the International Air Transport Association which regulates a worldwide aggregation of airlines, passenger sales agents, and cargo agents. All members are linked by adherence to stringent rules governing passenger and cargo travel. PIATA agents are therefore responsible for the veracity and correctness of all tickets issued. Since there is a direct exchange between client and agent, all conditions and restrictions of the ticket are communicated clearly. There are no unwelcome surprises. In addition, should any man-made or natural calamity hinder their client's travel, the PIATA agent directly oversees the rebooking, reissuance, or revalidation of tickets issued, or causes the endorsement to other airlines, so that the journey continues.
The PIATA agent is furthermore trained to evaluate documentary requirements required of international travel. Passport validity, the need for visas, and other entry requirements and clearances are communicated to the traveller and processed in the swiftest possible way.
Auxiliary services such as travel insurance, car and hotel reservations, cruise bookings are handled by trained travel counsellors who give added value to every customer.
PIATA agents are with the client every step of the way to ensure smooth sailing and safe passage.
